I graduated from the Department of African and African American Studies in 2009.  I was also a Mellon Mays Scholar, and wrote my thesis on the role of music in contemporary Afro-Argentine identity.  I was awarded a Fulbright in 2010 to return to Argentina and continue my investigation, specifically focused on Hip-Hop in the African Diaspora in Buenos Aires.

As a result of my Af-Am-thesis-turned-Fulbright, my documentary Buenos Aires Rap, will be premiering in The Buenos Aires Film Festival.   www.buenosairesrap.com
