Ayodeji Ogunnaike
Class of 2010
I am a senior pursuing a joint-degree with African
Studies and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations
interested in traditional African religions and
languages. I am particularly fascinated by the lessons
and knowledge that are often overlooked in traditional
African societies and have been focusing on studying
Yoruba Orisha worship and Islam. I was able to
combine the two of them this summer doing research
on the interaction and simultaneous practice of both
traditions in Nigeria this summer. You can read a bit
more about it on the blog I kept while conducting my
research. It's been great working with some of the
most prominent scholars in the field who are in the
African Studies Department and studying Yoruba
through the African Languages Department.
