During the 2021-2022 academic year Harvard's Radcliffe Institute will host two one-hour webinars exploring the legacy of **Eileen Southern**. The first entitled "Black Women and the American University: Eileen Southern’s Story," will be held on **Monday, November 15, 2021** at 4:00pm (Eastern). The second webinar entitled “Black Music and the American University: Eileen Southern’s Story,” will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Eileen Southern, the first black woman to be appointed full professor with tenure at Harvard, chaired the Department of Afro-American Studies from 1976-1979.
