On **Tuesday, May 11, 2021** at 8:00pm(Eastern), the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) and *PBS Books* will present A Special Conversation between **[AAAS Professors Jarvis Givens](/people/jarvis-r-givens)** &amp; **[Cornel West](/people/cornel-r-west)** regarding Professor Givens' new book released this month, *[Fugitive Pedagogy: Carter G. Woodson and the Art of Black Teaching](https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674983687)*. The discussion will be moderated by **[AAAS Professor Brandon Terry](/people/brandon-terry)** and will include thoughts on the reasons black teachers were so central to the long black freedom movement, and what lessons we might glean from their legacy as we search for meaningful education today.
