**[AAAS Professor Bruno Carvalho](/people/bruno-carvalho)** will chair a Harvard Mellon Urban Initiative (HMUI) entitled "Proliferating enclaves: "De-risking" and the making of usable space in urban Africa" featuring Speaker Professor Claudia Gastrow and Respondent Renugan Raidoo, PhD candidate in social anthropology, on **Thursday, December 9, 2021**, from 12:00pm-1:00pm(Eastern). The HMUI Urban Conversations aim to pair visiting scholars with Harvard faculty or graduate students as respondents with the goal of creating a space for scholars to share works-in-progress with an interdisciplinary community of urbanists.
