On **Wednesday, May 11, 2022**, Google reported that over the next few months they'll be incorporating a new skin tone scale designed to be more inclusive of the spectrum of skin tones seen in society. Google has partnered with **[AAAS Affiliate Professor Ellis Monk](/people/ellis-monk)**, who has been studying over ten years how skin tone and colorism affect people’s lives.
