AAAS Affiliate Professor Ellis Monk Receives NIH Award

On Tuesday, October 4, 2022, The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced the awardees of the NIH High-Risk, High-Reward Research Program. AAAS Affiliate Professor Ellis Monk was awarded $2.5 Million of grant funding over five years to support his project titled "The Optics of Health: Race Skin Tone Minority Health and Health Disparities in the U.S."  Professor Monk's project on skin tone and health examines colorism as a form of social stress, and addresses issues of colorism in pulse oximetry, and more.  For more information visit the NIH website and to see the other Harvard scientists that received awards this year visit The Harvard Gazette's website.
