AAAS Affiliate Professor Jarvis Givens Wins Frederic W. Ness Book Award

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) announced that AAAS Affiliate Professor Jarvis Givens' book Fugitive Pedagogy: Carter G. Woodson and the Art of Black Teaching, will receive this year’s Frederic W. Ness Book Award.  Established in 1979 to honor AAC&U’s ninth president, the Ness Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the understanding and improvement of liberal education.
