Ms. Chigumadzi's essay reflects on the July violence --- the worst civilian violence in post-apartheid South Africa's history -- following President Zuma’s conviction, and the overall crisis in South Africa—COVID, inequality, poverty, homelessness, ongoing extraction of wealth—as a condition of Black worldlessness.
