#  AAAS Profession Jarvis Givens Awarded 2022 ASALH Book Prize

 The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) awards an annual prize to recognize an outstanding book in the field of African American history and culture. This year's winner is **[AAAS Profession Jarvis Givens](/people/jarvis-r-givens)** for his book, *[Fugitive Pedagogy: Carter G. Woodson and the Art of Black Teaching](https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674983687)*. Professor Givens will is slated to be featured in a virtual book roundtable hosted by ASALH-TV in April 2022 TBD.
