On Thursday morning, October 8, 2020, AAAS Professor Ali Asani moderated a Worldwide Week at Harvard 2020 event entitled:  "Khusrau’s River of Love: Cosmopolitanism and Inclusion in South Asian Traditions."

The event, showcased the work and legacy of Amir Khusrau, South Asia’s legendary historian, poet, musician, sufi and mystic, and featured performances by musician and writer, Ali Sethi, and Dastango (story-teller), journalist, and writer, Himanshu Bajpai and commentary provided by Professor Asani.  In its recent history, South Asia has witnessed a deep polarization of society fueled by ideologies that seek to exclude “the other,” variously defined through the lens of caste, religion, ethnicity, language, gender, sexual orientation, and race.  This presentation offers an alternative lens through which we may engage with and appreciate difference.

More information on the event can be found on Harvard's South Asia Institute's website.  The recorded event can be viewed on YouTube.
