#  AAAS Professor Caroline Elkins on Shortlist for 2022 Baillie Gifford Prize

On **Monday, October 10, 2022**, *The Washington Post* published an article entitled "Books on empire, migrant crisis up for Baillie Gifford prize" in which **[AAAS Professor Caroline Elkins](/people/caroline-elkins)** and her new book *“[Legacy of Violence: A History of the British Empire](https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/45877/legacy-of-violence-by-caroline-elkins/)”* are among the finalists on the shortlist to receive the [Baillie Gifford Prize](https://thebailliegiffordprize.co.uk/). The Baillie Gifford Prize recognizes English-language books from any country in current affairs, history, politics, science, sport, travel, biography, autobiography and the arts, and the winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on November 17, 2022.
