#  AAAS Professor Emmanuel Akyeampong Leading Research into the Effects of Climate Change on African Coastal Nations

 On **Monday, February 13, 2023,** *The Harvard Gazette* reported on an ambitious new interdisciplinary project to combat climate change funded by the [Salata Institue](https://salatainstitute.harvard.edu/). One branch of the project will be headed by AAAS Professor and Director of Harvard's Center for African Studies [Emmanuel Akyeampong](/people/emmanuel-k-akyeampong), who in collaborition with universities in the Gulf of Guinea will be exploring the impacts of climate change and identifying future risk through a coastal vulnerability index.
