AAAS Professor Evelynn Hammonds Selected by Black Women Lead
The Black Women Lead Honorary Committee researched the lives of Black Women leaders from the greater Boston area from the 1700s (Phillis Wheatley), to the present, (Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley). From over 500 nominations of women from all walks of life and professions, 200 honorees that have worked tirelessly to make the greater Boston area a better place were selected. Among the list of 200 women is AAAS Professor Evelynn Hammonds, whose commissioned portrait, along with portraits of the other honorees, will hang from banners on light poles along Blue Hill Avenue. The project is made possible due to a generous contribution from the Kraft Family Foundation, and aims to inspire young Black girls and boys to be the next generation of leaders to make the world a better place.
