AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates Features New Documentary

On Tuesday, July 29, 2020, PBS and WETA announced a new documentary series from AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., The Black Church: This is our Story, This is our Song, which is slated to air on February 16 and 23, 2021 at 9:00 p.m.ET

Professor Gates executive produces, hosts, and writes the four-hour, two-part series which reveals the broad history and culture of the Black church and explores African American faith communities on the frontlines of hope and change. The series will feature interviews with Oprah Winfrey; John Legend; Jennifer Hudson; Presiding Bishop Michael Curry of The Episcopal Church; gospel legends Yolanda Adams, Pastor Shirley Caesar and BeBe Winans; civil rights leaders Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. William Barber II; scholar Cornel West; and many more.
