 

#  AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Discusses Who's Black and Why?

The Museum of Science is hosting a live conversation with Andrew Curran and **[AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr.](/people/henry-louis-gates-jr)**, the authors of the newly released book, *[Who’s Black and Why?: A Hidden Chapter from the Eighteenth-Century Invention of Race](https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674244269)* on **Wednesday, March 30, 2022** at 7:00pm(Eastern). The book, a compilation of centuries-old, never-before-published essays from Bordeaux’s Royal Academy of Sciences, also includes a detailed introduction and headnotes written by the authors examining the essays and providing insight into the origins of anti-Black racism and colorism in the West. The conversation will be moderated by **[AAAS Professor Evelynn Hammonds](/people/evelynn-m-hammonds)**.
