On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, the Washinton Post published an article entitled "A massive new effort to name millions sold into bondage during the transatlantic slave trade" in which AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is featured.
The article profiles Enslaved.org, a new and massive open-source database that enables researchers and others to identify the names and discover the biographies of victims of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Among others, Professor Gates and the Hutchins Center were partners in the Mellon Funded project.
