AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. To Host Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards

On Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 8:00PM (Eastern), AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. will host the televised Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards ceremony honoring the 2020 winners: historian Eric Foner, poet Ilya Kaminsky, scholar Charles King, and novelist and Harvard Professor or English Namwali Serpell.

 

Professor Gates, a former Anisfield-Wolf award recipient for his work on the nonfiction series “The Schomburg Library of Nineteenth-Century Black Women Writers” in 1989, has been the jury chair for the awards since 1995.

The October 1, 2020 premiere will be live-streamed on the Anisfield-Wolf Awards website.

In addition to its Oct. 1 premiere, the awards show will be rebroadcast through ideastream on WVIZ/PBS on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at 4:00PM (Eastern) and on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 10:30PM (Eastern)
