AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates in reading of "Remix: For My People"

On Monday, January 18, 2021, PBS American Portrait, the national storytelling documentary series, released a video of a reading of "Remix: For My People," a crowd-sourced poem edited by Natasha Trethewey, a Pulitzer Prize-winning former Poet Laureate of the U.S.

"Remix: For My People," a response to Margaret Walker Alexander’s poem, "For My People," is a poem written from a compilation of a wide range of diverse American voices.  In the video, segments of the poem are read by a variety of people including the general public, members of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and some notable PBS stars including AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
