AAAS Professor Jesse McCarthy Publishes Anthology of Black Poets

On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, publisher Penguin Random House will release the first volume in an anthology series that amplifies the voices of unsung Black poets to paint a more robust picture of our national past, and of the Black literary imagination.  The new book, Minor Notes, Volume 1, was edited by Joshua Bennett and AAAS Professor Jesse McCarthy, and features works by poets: George Moses Horton, Fenton Johnson, Georgia Douglas Johnson, Henrietta Cordelia Ray, David Wadsworth Cannon Jr., Anne Spencer, and Angelina Weld Grimké.  The book's forward is written by former poet laureate AAAS Professor Tracy K. Smith.
