#  AAAS Professor Robin Bernstein Awarded NEH Public Scholar Fellowship

In a [press release](https://www.neh.gov/news/neh-announces-284-million-239-humanities-projects-nationwide) dated Tuesday, August 17, 2021, the National Endowment for the Humanities announced the awarding of $28.4 Million to 239 humanities projects. Among the awardees is **[AAAS Professor Robin Bernstein](/people/robin-bernstein)** who is the recipient of a Public Scholar Fellowship which supports "well-researched books in the humanities aimed at a broad public audience." The year-long fellowship will support Professor Bernstein in the writing of a new book, *The Trials of William Freeman: A Story of Murder, Race, and America's First Industrial Prison*.
