#  AAAS Professor Tommie Shelby Receives Cabot Fellowship

 On **Monday, April 24, 2023**, Dean Claudine Gay and the Divisional Deans honored **[AAAS Professor Tommie Shelby](/people/tommie-shelby)** as a Walter Channing Cabot Fellow for the current academic year. Professor Shelby receives this prize fellowship in recognition of his outstanding contributions to his field, including the 2022 publication of *[The Idea of Prison Abolition](https://press.princeton.edu/books/hardcover/9780691229751/the-idea-of-prison-abolition)*. A public announcement will appear online in *The Harvard Gazette* during the month of June.
