AAAS Professor Vincent Brown's award-winning book Tacky's Revolt has been recognized by The Guardian as one of the best books of 2020.  On Sunday, December 6, 2020, The Guardian posted the article listing the best books of 2020 as picked by their acclaimed guest authors in which Professor Brown's book is described as "...a gripping study of a seminal uprising by enslaved west Africans in Jamaica in the early 1760s, which paved the way for many later revolutions. It highlights the sophistication of the revolutionaries, who were aspiring to create a new state, as well as the valour of the combatants, including women fighters such as Akua, the “Queen of Kingston”, who led a rebel group while adorned with a crown on her head."
