#  AAAS Professors Gates & Lewis Featured in Frederick Douglas Documentary

 HBO announced the premiere of a new documentary, *[Frederick Douglass: In Five Speeches](https://www.hbo.com/movies/frederick-douglass-in-five-speeches)*, which will air on **Wednesday, February 23, 2022**, at 9:00pm(Eastern). The documentary will feature actors reading five of Douglass' speeches, each representing different moments in the history of 19th century America and Douglass' life. [**AAAS Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr**.](/people/henry-louis-gates-jr), executive producer of the documentary, joins **[AAAS Professor Sarah Lewis](/people/sarah-lewis)** and other scholars to contextualize Douglass' speeches.
