#  Award Named in Honor of AAAS Professor Evelynn Hammonds

On **Friday, April 30, 2021**, The Harvard Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Students at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Association (LGBTQ @ GSAS), and the GSAS Office of Diversity and Minority Affairs, announced the creation of a new award to recognize the contributions of Harvard community members who perform exceptional service towards greater BGLTQ+ inclusion and belonging. The Evelynn Hammonds Award for Exceptional Service to BGLTQ+ Inclusion, will recognize individuals and teams at Harvard University who have strived to make Harvard more inclusive for BGLTQ+ communities. The new mentoring award is named in honor of **[AAAS Professor Evelynn Hammonds](/people/evelynn-m-hammonds)** and pays tribute to her vital leadership in the creation of the Office of BGLTQ Student Life, and her commitment to social justice, equity, and excellence.
