 

#  Emeritus AAAS Professor Biodun Jeyifo Honors Teju Olaniyan

On **Saturday, April 9, 2022**, **[Emeritus AAAS Professor Biodun Jeyifo](/people/biodun-jeyifo)** honored the legacy and life of the late [UW-Madison Professor Teju Olaniyan](https://madison365.com/family-colleagues-community-celebrate-life-of-beloved-uw-professor-and-launch-of-tejumola-olaniyan-foundation/) and gave the keynote address titled: “Death be not Proud: For Teju and the Foundation” at a memorial celebration and the launching of the [Tejumola Olaniyan Foundation](https://www.olaniyanfoundation.org/), a nonprofit foundation in Olaniyan's name that will focus on preserving and continuing strands of his contributions to higher education. Olaniyan was an internationally-recognized scholar of African, African American, and Caribbean literatures, post-colonial studies, genre studies and popular culture studies, whose distinguished body of work serves as a foundation for other scholars around the world in African and Diasporic studies.
