#  Harvard Announces Black Film Project in Partnership with the Smithsonian

On **February 1, 2024,** Harvard announced the establishment of the Black Film Project with AAAS Professor [Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr](https://harvard.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e3de5f6f3fa73dcfb28443efb&id=bdc20bd5a0&e=b7da6dbcc7) serving as director. The initiative partners with the Smithsonian to celebrate filmmakers focusing on Black history and culture.
