AAAS Professor Jamaica Kincaid to Receive Langston Hughes Medal

On Thursday, October 7, 2021, The City College of New York (CCNY) announced that AAAS Professor Jamaica Kincaid is the CCNY 2021 Langston Hughes Medal recipient.  The award will be presented to Professor Kincaid in a virtual ceremony on Thursday, November 18. 2021.  The Langston Hughes Medal is awarded to highly distinguished writers from throughout the African American diaspora at CCNY's annual Langston Hughes Festival, which celebrates its 43rd anniversary this year. The award recognizes honorees for their impressive works of poetry, fiction, drama, autobiography and critical essays that help to celebrate the memory and tradition of Langston Hughes. Professor Kincaid joins many distinguished past award winners including: James Baldwin; Gwendolyn Brooks; Toni Morrison; Maya Angelou; Octavia Butler; Zadie Smith; and Rita Dove.  To read the full press release visit CCNY's website.
