DESCRIPTION:On <strong>Thursday, October 14, 2021</strong> at 5:00pm (Eastern), the Harvard University Department of Music will host the visionary composer and trumpet player <a href="https://wadadaleosmith.com/" target="_blank" title="Wadada Leo Smith's website">Wadada Leo Smith</a> for the annual Louis C. Elson Lecture. This virtual event will feature the world premiere of Smith's new piece <em>Mercy</em>, created during and about the current pandemic, performed by Smith on trumpet, Andrew Cyrille on drums, and <strong><a href="internal:/people/vijay-iyer" target="_blank" title="Professor Iyer's Faculty Bio">AAAS Professor Vijay Iyer</a></strong> on piano and electronics.
