Chambi Chachage is a PhD student in African Studies with a primary field in History. He holds a BSocSci in Psychological Studies/BA (Hons) in African Studies and MSc in African Studies from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the University of Edinburgh, respectively. His research interests include: ‘Religion and the Reproduction of Educated Elites in Africa’; ‘Comparative History of Capitalism and Militarism in Eastern and Southern Africa’; ‘Regional Formation, Land Formalization and Identity Formulation in Post-Socialist Tanzania’. He is the editor, together with Annar Cassam, of Africa’s Liberation: The Legacy of Nyerere. Apart from blogging at Udadisi: Rethinking in Action and Ufunuo: Revelation of Hope, he contributes to Pambazuka News and co-moderates Wanazuoni: Tanzania’s Intellectuals. Prior to doctoral study, he worked as a policy analyst and advocate with HAKIELIMU and, then, as a resource person for Land Rights Research and Resources Institute (LARRRI/HAKIARDHI) and Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP).
