Rayha Kelly McPherson

Rayha Kelly McPherson (she/her/hers) is a sophomore living in Adams house pursuing a joint concentration in Psychology and African American Studies.  Ms. McPherson is interested in clinical psychology/psychological treatment as it pertains to minority populations, especially Black Americans.  She has a love for creative writing and aims to bring creativity and humanity into treatment modalities such that they may be more individually tailored and thus effective for non-WEIRD populations. Within this more holistic approach to medicine, she wants to focus on mindfulness-based strategies (grounded in music, meditation, visual art, etc.) to encourage patients to be, and feel as though they are, active in their treatment plans.

She loves sushi, dogs, the outdoors, and crafting, and outside of class she participates in various athletic and musical activities (such as soccer, yoga, jazz combo), works in the writing center, and is involved in different clubs/initiatives around campus.
