Louis C. Elson Lecture Hosts Wadada Leo Smith

On Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 5:00pm (Eastern), the Harvard University Department of Music will host the visionary composer and trumpet player Wadada Leo Smith for the annual Louis C. Elson Lecture. This virtual event will feature the world premiere of Smith's new piece Mercy, created during and about the current pandemic, performed by Smith on trumpet, Andrew Cyrille on drums, and AAAS Professor Vijay Iyer on piano and electronics. This performance will be followed by a dialogue between Smith and Professor Iyer, and a moderated question-and-answer session with the audience.  For more information and to register for the event visit the Department of Music's website.
